Sorti à l’origine en 2006\, cet album est largement considéré comme l’un des albums indie les plus influents du milieu des années 2000. Writer’s Block a immédiatement été reconnu\, notamment en étant nommé « Meilleur nouvel album » par Pitchfork et salué par The Guardian comme « un délice\, du début à la fin ». \nLe single de l’album\, « Young Folks »\, en featuring avec Victoria Bergsman\, est devenu un hymne emblématique de son époque\, remportant un succès retentissant et durable. Le sifflement contagieux de la chanson a été mis en avant dans de nombreuses discussions culturelles et\, au début de cette année\, le New York Times a présenté « Young Folks » dans sa newsletter « In Praise of Whistling in Pop Music » (Éloge du sifflement dans la musique pop) et dans sa playlist « The Amplifier ».
