Après un premier album « Moïra », pensé comme un carnet de voyages des pérégrinations passées de Thomas Gonzalez, le trio sort fin 2021 un deuxième opus, « Elements ». Tout en s'inscrivant dans la continuité du précédent album, le trio affirme une recherche de sonorités nouvelles à travers la rencontre contrastée entre rythmiques africaines et latines et sonorités volontairement binaires. Le trio propose ainsi l'exploration d'un univers onirique à travers des compositions à l'orchestration homogène, où la tension se maintient entre rupture et équilibre.

Thomas Gonzalez Trio was conceived by Thomas Gonzalez (drums) in 2014 and their first album “Moïra”- inspired by Gonzalez’s globetrotting experiences – was released the following year. With the second opus “Elements”, featuring Nicolas Michiel (piano) and Jacinto Carbajal (bass), the band stays faithful to their modern and accessible style of jazz, blending pop sounding melodies with traditional rhythms. What is also perceptible is a desire to explore new horizons by contrasting African and Latin American rhythms with a purposely binary sound. The outcome of this sonic research and homogenous orchestration is a dream-like set of original compositions whereas tension persists in the sweet spot between rupture and stability.
